Summer Activity Inspiration | Emma Jayne

So the summer holidays are on our doorstep (for those lucky enough to still be in schools) and I thought this post would be helpful in giving a couple of activity inspirations for over the summer.

I have put together 10 activities that I personally want to do during the summer this year. Some are more expensive than others, some could be suitable for children (but some not), some are more specific and some are pretty vague, but variety is the spice of life and you can do what you will with these suggestions.

Ride the Emirates Skyline
I have wanted to go on this cable car (saying that makes me want to go skiing) with views of London for the longest time now. It is nice and cheap – being only the cost of your average train ride (take your oyster) and on a nice sunny day, I reckon you would be able to see miles across London.

Spend the Afternoon in the Park
We live so close to Greenwich and yet have only been over once since moving to London. I would love to go spend the afternoon chilling out in the park, checking out the stalls in the market, visiting the royal observatory and just relaxing in the sunshine.

Now this one isn’t for everyone. Its physical, outdoorsy and high! My family used to do similar things in France years ago and I always had so much fun that I would love to give the UK version a go! They are also all over so there is bound to be one near you.

Spend Time at a National Trust Property
As a national trust member (tell me I’m old!) these are such cheap and fun days out. I love looking around the old houses and gardens and then going for a spot of lunch outside, people and dog watching and just relaxing and getting decoration and garden inspiration. Some of my favourites include: Tyntesfield, Kingston Lacy, and Osterley park and house.

Visit the London Dungeons/Other Attraction
The last time I visited this I was very young and don’t remember much! I have been wanting to go recently as I think it would be so much fun.

Go to the Beach
Who doesn’t want to build sandcastles and dip their toes in the water relax in the sun, have an ice cream and a hotdog as well! I sure do!

Drink Cocktails on a Rooftop
In the sunshine, with a Pina Colada – just imagine it and relax! Here are a few cute looking bars with roof terraces in London: Radio Rooftop bar, Madison gardens, Coq D'argent, SushiSamba (I have not visited any as of yet but the photos look lovely!)

Read Lots
I love reading in the summer and some of my best memories are those that include reading this year I want to attempt to read Game of Thrones. Other summer favourites of mine include Harry Potter, TFIOS (and other John Green novels, and the hunger games along with so many more!

Visit a Theme Park
Thorpe Park (Source: Thorpe Park)
I love a good theme park so would love to visit one, even though I only did last year! Within the UK I think Thorpe park is on the top of my list!
I hope this may have given you some summer activity ideas and let me know what you want to do if I’ve not mentioned it on my list!
