Makeup Revolution 3rd Birthday Party | Emma Jayne

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to attend Makeup Revolutions 3rd birthday Party which was held at One Embankment London. I wanted to just give you all a little low down of my thoughts on the event and a little sneak peak at some of the new products that will be making their way into Boots and Superdrug soon from the company behind Makeup Revolution - Tam Beauty.

First off the venue was lovely, I had never been to One Embankment before, but it is on the river - round the back of somerset house, they had even set out a little red carpet which really added an extra bit of class to the event. It was super organised with people checking names as you arrived, others taking coats and bags as well as someone giving out goodie bag tokens so you got into the venue super quick.

As I arrived into the main hall there were a number of acrylic boxes showcasing a number of new releases from each of the Tam Beauty (Makeup revolutions parent brand) brands, and I can honestly say I am super excited for a lot of these products - in particular the Revolution and Freedom products. Some of the Tam Beauty brands aren’t up my street in terms of packaging, but both these brands products look amazing – and if it’s all as good as the usual quality I can tell they are going to be amazing – and fly off the shelves as soon as they are relaesed.

As always with events like this there were a number of hospitality staff handing out drinks (some super yummy raspberry cocktails, mojitos, Prosecco or a non-alcoholic elderflower mocktail) as well as others with food – the mini sausage rolls were the best I have ever tasted (a little bit more would have been good though as I had to go straight from work to the event with no time for dinner). After a bit of mingling and a steady stream of people coming into the event it was starting to really feel full. It was at this point that the party really started!

Adam Minto started off with a speech to say thank you to all the bloggers, brands, and shareholders of tam beauty as without them the brand would not be where it is today. It was at this point that there was a short video played showing off the new releases coming to makeup revolution. After this there was an exciting announcement introducing the new makeup revolution YouTube team including Sophiedoesnails, Carmi, and Makeupbytammi, I am so excited to see how this team will help Makeup Revolution in the coming months. After all these announcements there was a probably the best entertainment there could have been with a troupe of dancers doing a great routine with so much to it – it was great fun!

Now is probably a great time to show you what I wore:

Top: ASOS
Trousers: Boohoo
Shoes: New Look
Bag: New Look

Once all the speeches and dance show was over the party ramped up a bit with lots of dancing – and some people were doing lots of drinking too! It was at this moment we went and played with the gif machine and some of them came out great.

I headed off home at about 11.30 – as I am a working woman that had to be up in the morning, however it seemed like a lot of other people had also done the same. Once I picked up my coat and bag I was able to exchange my token for a goodie bag and headed off. When I got home I checked out the goodie bag and it didn’t disappoint! I am excited to try some of the products, but also put some aside for a giveaway soon (I already have so much makeup and know there are lots of people who would love the products) - so keep an eye out here for that! Overall this was easily the best Makeup revolution party I have been to (this was my 3rd) and it has really made me excited about what is coming from the brand soon!

Let me know in the comments what you are looking forward to from Tam Beauty and Makeup Revolution? What is your favourite beauty product and what do you hope they will release?

Threads False Lashes Review | Emma Jayne

So today’s post is a little review of a couple of pairs of the threads false eyelashes; Rock Chic Lashes and Vava Voom Lashes. Now false lashes are that one beauty item that I either love or hate and I tend to go through phases. A few months a go I fell in love with the Eyeleur Fleur De Force ¾ lashes and wore them non stop. However more recently I’ve been going for the natural look and using falsies on nights out only.

Recently I was contacted by the lovely company in charge of PR relations for Threads Lashes and they asked if I would like to try out some of Threads lashes so they sent me 2 sets Vava Voom* and Rock Chic*.

These lashes look amazing (and are perfect for the flatlay for the gram!) In the box you get one set of lashes and they also come with a great glue. I have worn both pairs of lashes now and can honestly say they are super easy to apply; however it did take the first time to get used to them as I did find the band a little thicker than some of the lashes I have worn previously. Despite this they are still really light and after a couple on minutes on the lashes I completely forgot they were there. Now onto some thought about each style.

The Rock Chic Lashes are the more natural of the 2 I was sent, and are my favourite. They are long and wispy and just add a little extra glam to any look. They are really subtle and natural, but give a little more definition making them perfect for everyday wear as well as evening. I can see myself reaching for these on a weekend to really help complete any look.

The Vava Voom Lashes on the other hand are a little more intense adding both volume and length. These are very glamorous, but also super dramatic and sultry. This set are perfect for evening dates as well as a night out on the town. I also love these for more dramatic make-up looks for filming and blogging.

Overall the quality of these lashes is great and I can see them lasting a long time with multiple wears. They retail for £9 on the Threads beauty page.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of the Threads Beauty lashes? What is your favourite style and which brand is your favourite for false lashes?

Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau De Parfum Review | Emma Jayne

Here it is, another fragrance post, but this time a review of the Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau De Parfum. As with my previous review Giorgio Armani Si, I was lucky to receive this as a gift for Christmas and I love it!

To start with the packaging is gorgeous it looks like a little bag which really makes it stand out within my perfume collection and even when its empty I can see myself using it as decoration.

Onto the scent, it is described by Marc Jacobs as;

A sensual, luxurious, woody fragrance, embodying the spirit of irreverent glamour.
The fragrance opens with sultry top notes of Italian plum, iris flower, and saffron. The heart opens with luxurious notes of Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, and orris. The indulgent dry down reveals the base notes of vetiver, papyrus woods, and liquid amber.

In laymen’s terms it is a sexy woody fragrance with floral notes coming through.
I love wearing this on special evenings and day dates and have found it lasts a good length of time on the skin (up to 6 hours) and changes slightly with your skins natural oils, on me it becomes more woody and this brings out the sexiness of this fragrance.

I have the 30ml version of the Eau De Parfum which retails for £49 (50ml: £69, 100ml: £96).

Do you have this fragrance? Let me know in the comments your thoughts. Also let me know your all time favourite fragrance!

Zoeva Cosmetics Brush Review | Emma Jayne

I have wanted a set of these for so long as they are just beautiful and so many people talk about how great they are. I was lucky to get the Zoeva Rose Golden Complete Set Vol 1. for Christmas. It was such a surprise and I was so thrilled with them.

So what are my thoughts a few months in?

I LOVE THEM! Not only are is there a brush for everything, they are so soft, they pick up the perfect amount of product - so I feel that there is less product wastage, but they also blend products beautifully, clean back to white so easily, and they don’t malt all over my face! I also found out after getting them that they are 100% cruelty free brushes – a big ethical bonus!

Over all I would highly recommend the Zoeva brushes as they have surpassed all my expectations! The set that I have retails at £110, but you get 15 brushes bringing each bush down to £7.30 – a decent bargain if you ask me! Zoeva also offer other sets in smaller and larger sizes in all sorts of colours. They tend to range from £65 for 8 brushes up to £200 for 30 brushes - there is really something for everyone.

Let me know in the comments below what you think of the Zoeva brushes and if you have them?
